Discover Bonding and Veneers in Cheshire
Our patients often ask us if they are a candidate for bonding or veneers, which is a great question. Lets discuss a little bit about what bonding and veneers are and the differences between bonding and veneers.
Who is a candidate for bonding and veneers?
Bonding and veneers in Cheshire are placed to help with esthetics, or the look of your front teeth. Bonding or veneers can be used to correct:
- Worn front teeth that concern you esthetically
- Severely discolored teeth (please also see our "teeth whitening" section to see the difference between internal and external tooth staining)
- Crooked teeth
- Improper proportions or sizes of front teeth
Should I choose bonding or veneers?
This is a great question, and to answer it, let's discuss specifically what bonding is and what a veneer is.
Bonding is a technique in which selected teeth are minimally prepared in order to make some space for tooth-colored filling material (dental composite) that is bonded or "glued" to the front of the tooth. This bonding is all done in one visit by Dr. Fletcher or Dr. Marandino.
What are the advantages of bonding?
The advantages of bonding include:
- A beautiful esthetic outcome
- A one-visit procedure
- A painless procedure
- Easily repairable, if necessary
Veneers are similar to bonding in that they achieve similar outcomes. A veneer is a porcelain cover for front teeth. In order to fabricate a veneer for front teeth, we shape the tooth to properly accept the veneer. We then take take dental impressions of the prepared teeth.
We use a local laboratory here in Connecticut to custom fabricate our beautiful veneers from the dental impressions we send. The porcelain veneer takes about two weeks to return from the laboratory.
You might be wondering what in the world you will do for two weeks while the veneer is being made, which is a great question! We create beautiful and stable temporary veneers during the wait time, so rest assured that you will leave our office with perfectly presentable and comfortable temporary veneers!
Veneers also have some advantages:
- They provide a superior esthetic outcome with custom-designed and colored porcelain.
- The procedures is painless.
If you have any questions or feel that you might be a good candidate for bonding or veneers, please call our Cheshire dental office to have a consultation with either Dr. Marandino or Dr. Fletcher!
